Meet The Founder:
Hi, I’m Maya

Growing up with social media I have always been interested in photography, content creation, and the opportunities that can come with social media. In 2014 I went to Baylor University and quickly realized I wanted to study business and more specifically entrepreneurship but I was never quite sure how I’d use it. Jump to 2019, I moved to Stockholm, Sweden to be with my Swedish boyfriend and I found myself in a job that had me taking over their social media accounts, and that's when everything started to click. I quickly jumped into freelancing as a social media manager and learned that photography and content creation is truly the foundation of digital marketing. BUT, I also learned that it is one of the hardest things to overcome as a freelancer, entrepreneur, and business.

Each of those moments has led me to create Makai Creative Studios.

I learned from experience how awkward it can feel to try and shoot in cafes and public spaces, how risky it can feel to set up a tripod in public, and how uncomfortable it feels to start speaking into a camera for stories and reels. Not to mention, the need to clean up my home every time I wanted to take a quick picture or shoot a reel. All while missing the community and connection that I left behind when I quit my 9-5, I quickly learned that freelancing & entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey.

Each of those moments has led me to create Makai Creative Studios. 

Makai Creative Studios is a studio space made to provide aesthetic, private spaces for photoshoots, content creation, workshops, and so much more. We aim to make each booking as comfortable, unique, and easy as possible. If you are a photographer shooting families, we will have toys and snacks ready. If you are an entrepreneur or freelancer ready to host your first event or workshop, get in touch and we’d love to host with you! If you are an influencer or business owner ready to hammer out some content, we will provide you with the lighting, props, and equipment you need to make each shot unique. 

  • Absolutely! We offer half-day, full-day, or custom event packages. Inquire here and we will get in touch with pricing and dates!

  • Anyone! We host artists, photographers, entrepreneurs, writers, videographers, stylists, community members, businesses, anyone in need of a creative space! Whether you are booking for fun or for business you are more than welcome to explore that creativity at MCS.

  • Yes! If you need 4+ hours per month we are happy to provide you with a custom membership to fit your needs! Inquire here and we will get back to you with discounted rates, referral discounts, and more!

  • All bookings must be made more than 24 hours in advance.

    All bookings can be rescheduled up to 72 hours in advance.

FAQS

  • Sand and glitter are prohibited. Candles must be LED or in a container or glass votive to prevent fires and prevent wax from getting on the floors.

  • Yes we have 2 restrooms available for all guests and 1 restroom that is available to those who book The Pink Palm studio.

  • We recommend arriving 5 minutes before your booking time. Please remember that your booking time includes set up and clean up so please book accordingly.

  • Absolutely, we love all furry friends! Pets MUST be on a leash at all times and MUST be cleaned up after if they go in the yard or if they leave any footprints or drool marks.

  • We do! Inquire here and we would be happy to share our favorite vendors with you.
